2025 Summer Reads

It’s no secret I love books! Ever since I was a child, I loved getting lost in a good book.

Being a child of divorce, with an almost 3 hours commute every other weekend, books were my saving grace for those long rides. I could finish a book roundtrip. How I didn’t end up with a headache, I have no idea because I couldn’t even try to attempt that now.

Sadly, I had stopped reading for a few years, but I am so happy that I’ve slowly gotten back into my love of reading.

As I’m trying to read more, my goal is to enjoy more books every season & share them with you here. Hopefully, this list sparks an interest in you to pick one up and read for yourself or gift to someone else. Happy Reading!

The Power Of Positive Energy by Tanaaz Chubb

On multiple occasions at Barnes & Noble, I would see this book, pick it up and put it back. It was the only copy on the shelf, the bottom paperback corners creased and somewhat hidden between the other books. For some strange reason, I couldn’t get the image of the cover out of my head, I wanted that book. I went back to find that the same book was still there, bent corners and all. I like to think the books you need in certain periods of your life will gravitate towards you. Kind of like, the wand chooses the wizard (Harry Potter fan here 🪄). At the time, I happened to be searching in the self-help section. Not knowing where to even start in choosing a book, I guess this one kind of chose me.

If you want to free yourself from things that no longer serve you, this book is for you. This book was an easy read and FULL of great information. A new favorite of mine for sure and a book I often and forever will come back to. What I loved about this read was that it actually gave you prompts, examples and exercises to follow. For example, chapter 3 has a chart specifically for changing your self-limiting beliefs into loving beliefs. Chapter 9 teaches you how to embrace higher realms and how to call upon your spirit team for help. Even if you aren’t someone who’s spiritual, this book has so many examples and prompts to help you access your greater power. From raising your vibration to even taming stress and anxiety, this little book really has something for everyone. It gives you the opportunity to put your newfound knowledge into action. It’s simple to follow and allows you to look deeper into yourself while uncovering and understanding your feelings and more. From choosing self-love and learning to access your intuition, to manifesting and healing, this powerful little book has it all.

The author Taanaz Chubb is also the creator of ForeverConscious.com a website dedicated to spiritual well-being, mindfulness, and healing.

The Courage To Be Disliked by Ichiro Kishimi & Fumitake Koga

I saw stacks of this book on a table in the middle of my local Barnes & Noble. I picked one up, skimmed through it and brought it home with me. The book has a unique writing style that I don’t normally gravitate towards when choosing something to read. It’s an interesting dialogue between a philosopher, with the ideas of Adlerian psychology, teaches a young man how one can be truly happy. I highly recommend diving into this book with an open mind. There were some parts that, like the young man in the book, I didn’t fully agree with and questioned at first. It’s a bit difficult to let go of ways we have been conditioned to think for so long. Even if you don’t agree with everything in the book, there is still valuable information to take from it. For example, how to rid yourself of interpersonal relationship problems, the importance of community, true sense of ones worth and having the courage to be happy. The more I read, the more I was able to understand, and it seemed to make more sense to me when I let go of my biased beliefs. This book gave me an entirely different perspective on self-limitations, self-forgiveness, and how we can achieve happiness if we choose. Because ultimately, we are responsible for our own happiness, we just need to get out of our own way.

You’re Too Good to Feel This Bad by Nate Dallas

Book Cover of: You're Too Good to Feel This Bad by Nate Dallas

Technically this was an older read but it’s too good of a book not to share. This book was actually a surprise gift from my husband and played a huge part in the shift of our lives. My husband was going through his sickness, and no doctor, hospital or medication could figure out or fix his problems. No doctor or specialist that he’d seen ever stopped to think that maybe it was all stress related. We were indeed going through a very stressful time, and it was taking a toll on us all. Who would have thought that the simple changes we learned from this book would eventually heal him. No surgery, no medication, and no specialists. Initially, he saw this book and ordered it for me and as soon as I started reading, I stopped and told him, “You have to read this book”. I can’t tell you how much of an impact this book has made on our lives. When I was reading it, I just kept thinking this book was meant for us. It was just too much of a coincidence to not feel that this book was meant to enter our household at the time that it did. My husband bought this book with the intention of helping me, not knowing it was actually going to help us all. This book helped us to finally establish a routine for our household. It gives great advice on mindset, dealing with inner conflict, and leveling up our relationships. It helped kickstart our path to minimalism, not for aesthetic purposes, but for our mind and body. In chapter 12, he teaches how to reframe the way we see work, managing your time to be more efficient, and encourages you to ask questions regarding your current systems. This book gave us a gameplan to implement into our lives when we needed it the most.

You’re Too Good to Feel This Bad was an easy (and quick) read. Nate Dallas gives plenty of helpful tips (and light humor) on how small changes can impact your health, in a positive way. This book has loads of value and he simplifies it in such a way that anyone can do it. What I enjoyed most was the way he made it personable than just bland straight forward information. It’s a great book to read for yourself or gift to someone else and definitely one I can see myself re-reading.

Great Goddesses by Nikita Gill

Book cover of: Great Goddesses by Nikita Gill

I love hearing, reading and watching stories of mythology. It’s something that has always piqued my interest and I always found it fascinating. That’s why when I picked this up at my bookstore and flipped through the pages, I knew this was a must read for me. Great Goddesses was a pleasure to read, and I honestly didn’t want to put it down. I devoured it in two days, but could have done it in one, if I didn’t have responsibilities. I was happily lost in this poetry filled book about great Greek Goddesses with a feminist twist. I loved every story told, the illustrations and the entirely different perspective on the myths we’ve heard before. Nikitas words were pure beauty, and a refreshing change from my usual picks. If you’re a fan of mythology and poetry, Great Goddesses by Nikita Gill will not disappoint. You can also find more of her work here https://www.instagram.com/nikita_gill .
